More doo wop magic!

A couple of more favourites from the concert:

Little Darling by the Diamonds

Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me by Mel Carter

Note : I got choked up by the emotional energy Mel put into this

Blue Moon by the Marcels

Note : That bass man has got soul

Doo wop is the bomb

I have a confession to make...i actually started this blog to help me keep track of all the random thoughts and video about my favourite tunes and sounds. I don't really care if no one reads this blog except me so there! :P

I was privileged enough to be the proud owner of this 2-DVD Doowop concert that was filmed in 2000. It featured all of the main 1950s and 1960s doowop groups performing their hit songs. Tears were frequently obscuring my vision as i watched because of the emotions i felt seeing these 60 and 70 year old veterans (many of them grandfathers and grandmothers) reviving their past glory. It was magical to hear their voices, mellowed with age, singing songs i've been humming when i was a little chap. Here's something i want my female choir members to see:

You're never too old!

P.S these african americans are perhaps the grooviest of all singers

P.S.S i'm not a fan of large women but that backup singer on the right is quite a fetching sight ;)

Hammer time!

I don't know why but i've been trawling through Youtube recently looking for these strange, absolutely unflattering videos of celebrities doing weird stuff when i came across this. I never had much of an opinion about boybands but Justin Timberlake really stood out as someone really talented. This video is an example :

How the heck can he move like that in that ridiculous suit?! I've also noticed that he's a fair comedic actor and he's very natural in front of the camera.Cheers to you,JT, and hope to see more stuff from you.

Soul redeemed! Midnight Train to Georgia

You know how pumped i am about this video? I'm so pumped that i started this blog just so i can say something about it! This is one of my all-time favourite songs and to see this on a Thursday afternoon just about made my year haha.First of all, check it out

I've never really liked Stiller but he's playing the nerdy fella role pretty well here.Black is...well...Black but Downey Jr is another level altogether.Smooth little sucker, ain't he? They have great chemistry together and i think i'm quite pumped now to do a little piece similar to this.I call it my tribute to a classy lady and her legendary song! (for those of you who call it shiok sendiri, take a one-way ticket on a midnight train to nowhere)

A note about Midnight Train though...when you listen to it, don't you just get the feeling that it's a cold night and you're sitting in a window seat on a train gazing outwards? ok,it's just me then...
